The Boston Red Sox organization released outfielder Natanael Yuten on July 26. The move came from the High-A Greenville Drive, the team’s affiliate.
Yuten is a 21 year old left handed hitter from La Romana in the Dominican Republic. The Red Sox signed him as an international free agent in January 2022. He stood 6 foot 3 and weighed about 143 pounds at the time of his release.
In 2026 with Greenville, Yuten struggled at the plate. He appeared in 30 games and posted a .165 batting average. He recorded 17 hits in 103 at bats, struck out 39 times, and drew only three walks. His on base percentage sat at .196 with a .311 OPS.
Earlier in his career, Yuten showed stronger results. In the 2022 Dominican Summer League, he hit .307 over 50 games. In 2023, he batted .336 in Rookie ball with the Florida Complex League Red Sox before a lower mark at Single-A Salem. He spent additional time at Salem in later seasons and posted a .270 average with a .724 OPS in 2025.
The release formed part of several minor league roster moves by the Red Sox on the same day. Other actions included a promotion for left handed pitcher Michael Sansone to Triple-A Worcester and the activation of infielder-outfielder Nazzan Zanetello from the injured list in Greenville.
Yuten had advanced through the Red Sox system as a center fielder and corner outfielder. The organization listed him as a prospect with speed and potential power. His 2026 performance at High-A did not meet the level needed to remain on the roster.
The Red Sox have not issued a detailed public statement beyond the transaction itself. Yuten is now a free agent and can sign with another organization.
