The Los Angeles Dodgers are acquiring left handed pitcher Tarik Skubal from the Detroit Tigers. In return, the Tigers will receive outfielder Zyhir Hope along with right handed pitchers River Ryan and Brady Smith.

Skubal is a two time American League Cy Young Award winner. He has been a key starter for the Tigers this season. He is scheduled to become a free agent after the 2026 season.

Zyhir Hope is ranked as the Dodgers No. 5 prospect and No. 25 overall in MLB Pipeline rankings. The 21 year old outfielder has played this season at Double-A Tulsa. He has shown power and speed, with strong numbers including home runs and stolen bases. The Dodgers originally acquired Hope in a previous trade with the Chicago Cubs.

River Ryan is ranked among the Dodgers top prospects and appears on the overall top 100 list. Brady Smith is also a pitching prospect from the Dodgers system.

The trade adds Skubal to the Dodgers starting rotation. The team is the defending World Series champion and continues to build its pitching staff. The Tigers receive three prospects as part of their roster planning.

Skubal has spoken about the reported move in interviews. The deal involves the remaining portion of his 2026 salary.

This is one of the larger reported transactions leading into the trade deadline. Both teams will finalize details and medical reviews as standard in such agreements.

The Dodgers gain an established starter while the Tigers add young talent to their farm system. Hope, Ryan, and Smith now become part of the Tigers organization.

Further updates are expected once the teams formally announce the completed trade.
