The loss dropped the Orioles to 52-56. The Tigers improved to 51-57 and ended a three game losing streak.

The Tigers offense produced runs consistently from the first inning onward. Valencia and Torres provided the main power. The Orioles pitching staff could not limit the damage. Their hitters did not generate offense against Melton or the Detroit relief pitchers.

This was one of the more one sided results of the season for Baltimore. The Orioles had limited success at the plate and on the mound throughout the nine innings.

The teams were scheduled to continue their series on Wednesday with Tarik Skubal expected to start for Detroit. The Orioles planned to use another starter in the series finale.
