Taysom Hill announced on July 29 that he will not return to the New Orleans Saints for a 10th season. The versatile player shared a statement on social media thanking the team, the city, and fans for his nine years with the organization.
Hill said New Orleans was more than the place where he played football. It was where his family built a life and where his oldest son was born. He explained that he took time during the offseason to consider his next steps. While he does not yet have a clear plan for the future, he stated that returning to the Saints is not in the cards.
In his statement, Hill thanked Saints owner Gayle Benson, his teammates, and the entire organization. He said the relationships he built helped him grow as a player and as a person. He also thanked the city of New Orleans for its support and said the city will always hold a special place in his heart. He closed by saying he will always be a Saint.
Saints Executive Vice President and General Manager Mickey Loomis responded to the news. Loomis said Hill’s career with the team was remarkable. He highlighted Hill’s intelligence, athletic ability, versatility, and unselfishness. Loomis also noted that Hill was a strong teammate, leader, and mentor. He thanked Hill for his contributions over nine seasons.
Hill joined the Saints as an undrafted free agent and developed into a multi position player. He lined up at tight end, quarterback, and other roles during his time in New Orleans. He contributed through rushing, receiving, and occasional passing. His ability to fill multiple roles made him a unique part of the Saints roster for nearly a decade.
As of early August 2026, Hill remains without a new team. He indicated he is still working through his options for the upcoming season. The Saints have begun training camp without him on the roster.
