Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby spoke about a practice altercation with quarterback Kirk Cousins.

“Shit I was just doing what I do. He didn’t like that. So he got what he got, it is what it is,” Crosby said.

The exchange occurred Friday during training camp at the team’s facility in Henderson, Nevada. During 11 on 11 team drills, Crosby made contact with Cousins arm more than once. After the second contact, Cousins confronted Crosby, grabbed his jersey, and the two exchanged words. Teammates stepped in and separated them.

Crosby was sent to the sideline for the rest of the period. Kirk Cousins stayed on the field and finished the drive.

Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak addressed the matter after practice. “Those are two leaders of our team going at it, so that is part of camp,” Kubiak said. He added that players need to stay smart because fighting or throwing a punch in a game leads to ejection.

Tight end Michael Mayer also commented. He said padded practices often include physical moments and that Cousins showed the edge expected from a starting quarterback.

Maxx Crosby has a history of high intensity practice habits. Before camp, the coaching staff spoke with him about limiting contact to the quarterback’s arm and head area. Crosby has previously noted that finishing plays is part of his approach and that he has been coached on it throughout his career, including during his college days at Eastern Michigan.

Kirk Cousins, a 15 year NFL veteran, is working with the first team offense this camp after signing with the Raiders. Maxx Crosby, a multi time Pro Bowl selection, continues to recover and build after offseason knee surgery while remaining a key part of the defensive line.
