The Baltimore Ravens waived undrafted rookie quarterback Diego Pavia on Thursday. The move created a roster spot for veteran center Ethan Pocic, who signed a free agent contract with the team.
Pocic’s signing would have put the Ravens over the NFL’s 90 man roster limit. The team waived Pavia as the corresponding transaction to stay under the limit.
Pavia joined the Ravens after going unselected in the 2026 NFL Draft. He attended the team’s rookie minicamp as a tryout player. A few days later, the Ravens signed him to a three year contract.
Pavia competed as one of five quarterbacks on the roster. Lamar Jackson holds the starting job. Tyler Huntley serves as the primary backup. Pavia was one of the players vying for the third quarterback spot along with Skylar Thompson and undrafted rookie Joe Fagnano.
The waiver narrows that competition to Thompson and Fagnano. The Ravens made the decision days before the start of training camp.
Pavia played college football and finished as the 2025 Heisman Trophy runner up. He signed with Baltimore after his senior season. The Ravens listed him among the quarterbacks during offseason workouts and minicamp.
Ethan Pocic is a veteran offensive lineman. He signed a one-year deal with the Ravens. The team needed additional depth at the center position heading into camp.
The transaction leaves the Ravens with four quarterbacks on the current 90 man roster. Jackson and Huntley remain the top two. Thompson and Fagnano will compete for the remaining spot during training camp practices and preseason games.
Pavia is now a free agent if he clears waivers. Other NFL teams can claim him. The Ravens completed the roster move on Thursday afternoon.
