The Atlanta Falcons and running back Bijan Robinson have agreed to terms on a three year contract extension. The deal is worth up to $75 million and includes $51 million in guaranteed money.

Robinson will receive $37 million at signing as part of the guaranteed portion. The agreement makes him the highest paid running back in NFL history based on average annual value and total guaranteed money at the position.

Reports from multiple sources confirmed the details on Tuesday. Robinson is a two time Pro Bowl selection. He was drafted by the Falcons in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft out of the University of Texas.

Through his first three seasons, Robinson has recorded 3,910 rushing yards and 25 rushing touchdowns. He has also added 198 receptions for 1,738 receiving yards and nine receiving touchdowns. Last season he led the league in scrimmage yards with 2,298 and earned All-Pro honors.

The extension comes after Robinson held in during the early part of training camp while negotiations continued. His agent, Nicole Lynn of Klutch Sports, worked with the Falcons to complete the agreement.

The Falcons have also reached recent extensions with wide receiver Drake London and tight end Kyle Pitts. Those deals, along with Robinson’s contract, secure several key offensive players for the coming seasons.

Previously, Saquon Barkley of the Philadelphia Eagles held the top average annual value among running backs at approximately $20.6 million. Robinson’s new contract surpasses that mark.

Robinson is now expected to return fully to on field preparations for the upcoming season. The Falcons open their regular season schedule later this year.
