EA Sports confirmed on Thursday that Madden NFL 27 will launch on August 13, 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams is the cover athlete the first Bears player in franchise history to land on a Madden cover. The standard edition shows Williams doing his signature jump pass over the Chicago skyline, and the deluxe version features his "Iceman" celebration with custom nail art.
Williams earned it. In his second NFL season, he led the Bears to an 11-6 record, an NFC North title, and a playoff win. He threw for 3,942 yards and 27 touchdowns. His overtime walk-off touchdown pass against the Packers was named NFL Moment of the Year.
The big gameplay addition this year is the Persona Engine for franchise mode. EA described it as the biggest overhaul to player behavior the series has ever made. Players can now hold out, demand trades, and have distinct personality types — 65 total — that affect negotiations and weekly management.
EA Play Pro members get access on August 10. EA Play members get a 10-hour early trial starting August 6.
