The Washington Commanders have agreed to terms with free agent wide receiver Stefon Diggs on a one year contract. Multiple reports place the deal’s value at up to $12 million. The Commanders had remaining salary cap space that allowed them to pursue the veteran receiver.
Diggs, 32, spent the 2025 season with the New England Patriots. He recorded 85 receptions for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns that year. The Patriots released him earlier in the offseason.
The 4 time Pro Bowl receiver is a Maryland native. He was born in Gaithersburg and played college football at the University of Maryland. The signing brings him back to the Washington area.

Stefon Diggs will join an offense led by quarterback Jayden Daniels and wide receiver Terry McLaurin. The Commanders have sought additional proven talent at the wide receiver position. Diggs is expected to compete for a prominent role opposite McLaurin.
Diggs enters his 12th NFL season. He previously played for the Minnesota Vikings, Buffalo Bills and Houston Texans before joining the Patriots. He has reached 1,000 receiving yards in multiple seasons during his career.
Diggs is expected to report to the team as training camp continues. He will participate in practices and preseason preparation with the rest of the receiving group, which also includes players such as Treylon Burks and Luke McCaffrey.
Stefon Diggs brings experience and production from his recent campaign with New England.
