Teddy Bridgewater is the Detroit Lions backup quarterback heading into the 2026 NFL season.
The veteran signed with the Lions in March as a free agent to back up starter Jared Goff. It is a return to the team where he previously spent time early in his career.
Bridgewater, now 33, has built a reputation as a steady veteran who provides leadership in the quarterback room and can step in when needed. A recent ranking of NFL backups placed him 21st entering the season.
The Lions open training camp later this summer with Bridgewater on the roster as the primary backup.
