John Cena Says Hair Transplant Changed His Life

John Cena has spoken publicly about undergoing two hair transplant procedures. The 49 year old wrestler and actor shared details about the treatments and their impact on his life.

Cena completed his first procedure in late 2024. It involved follicular unit extraction with more than 2,000 grafts to address thinning hair and a receding hairline. He returned for a second procedure about 15 months later with the same doctor, Ken Anderson. The second surgery took less time than the first.

In preparation for the second treatment, Cena shaved his head. He posted a photo of himself with a bald look while shaking hands with Anderson. In the caption, Cena said he went all in for the best possible results.

Cena discussed the procedures at San Diego Comic-Con. He said the transplants totally changed his life. He noted that he wishes he had taken the step years earlier. Cena pointed to the stigma around male pattern baldness as a reason for the delay. He observed that many men experience similar hair loss.

Fans had previously drawn attention to his thinning hair during WWE events. Cena said that feedback contributed to his decision to seek treatment. He now follows a maintenance routine that includes red light therapy and other products recommended after the procedures.

Cena continues his work in wrestling and acting. The procedures form part of his personal health choices in recent years. He has described the process as straightforward, involving the relocation of hair follicles from one area of the scalp to another.
