Kelsey Plum Scores 20 in Mercury Debut as Phoenix Beats Chicago

Kelsey Plum scored 20 points in her first game with the Phoenix Mercury. The Mercury beat the Chicago Sky 106-101 on Monday night.

Plum played 20 minutes off the bench. She made 6 of 10 shots from the field and 3 of 5 from three point range. She also recorded 4 assists.

The Mercury acquired Plum in a trade with the Los Angeles Sparks just before the deadline. She joined the team in Chicago for the game.

Kahleah Copper led Phoenix with 31 points. Alyssa Thomas finished with 19 points, 15 rebounds and 12 assists for a triple double. DeWanna Bonner added 14 points.

The Sky received contributions from several players. Courtney Vandersloot had 16 points and 10 assists. Kamilla Cardoso recorded 16 points and 13 rebounds.

Plum made her first basket as a Mercury player during the game. She later hit a three pointer in the fourth quarter that helped Phoenix take a late lead.

The Mercury improved to 12-19 with the win. The Sky fell to 11-19.

Plum had been sidelined earlier in the season due to injury. She returned to action in the new uniform after the recent trade.

The game took place at the Sky’s home arena. Phoenix secured the road victory in a close contest that stayed competitive into the final minutes.
