Two fans sitting courtside were escorted from their seats during the third quarter of the Indiana Fever’s game against the Las Vegas Aces on Thursday night at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

The incident occurred with 4:38 remaining in the third quarter. Aces guard Jackie Young inbounded the ball, then motioned toward the stands and spoke with a referee. The game stopped for several minutes while arena security responded.

Security first escorted a woman seated in the front row across from the Aces bench through a tunnel. She returned to her seat shortly afterward. Security then removed two men seated nearby. Those two did not return to their seats.

Young addressed the matter after the game. She said one fan had been chirping throughout the contest. “I let him have it, and then he just made one that was a little bit too far,” Young said. She declined to detail the specific comments.

The Indiana Fever issued a statement about the situation. “Following a report of a comment directed toward a player, arena security spoke with the fan involved and witnesses,” the team said. “Security determined there was no violation of the Fan Code of Conduct. The fan was not removed from the arena, but elected to leave. We consider the matter closed.”

The Aces went on to defeat the Fever 86-84 in overtime. Chelsea Gray hit a buzzer beating three pointer to secure the win. Young finished with a team high 26 points for Las Vegas.

The game was part of the regular season schedule between the two teams. Young confirmed she was satisfied with how security handled the report. “They did the right thing,” she said.

Arena staff and team officials followed standard procedures after the player’s report. The Fever’s investigation concluded the comments did not meet the threshold for a formal code violation under the league’s Fan Code of Conduct.
