Jannik Sinner won the 2026 Wimbledon men’s singles title on Sunday. The world number one from Italy beat Alexander Zverev of Germany 6-7(7), 7-6(2), 6-3, 6-4 in the final at the All England Club.
Sinner, the defending champion and top seed, came back from a set down to claim his second straight Wimbledon crown. It was his fifth Grand Slam title overall. Zverev, the second seed and recent French Open champion, took the first set but could not hold the lead.
The match lasted three hours and 46 minutes. Sinner never lost his serve in any of the four sets. Both players served well early on, but longer rallies and consistency became important later.
In the first set, Zverev played with power and accuracy on his groundstrokes. He won the tiebreak 9-7 to lead 1-0. Sinner stayed in the match by holding serve under pressure.
Sinner turned the match in the second set. He won the tiebreak 7-2 to even the score at one set each. From that point, he started to control more of the longer exchanges.
In the third set, Sinner broke Zverev’s serve and won 6-3. A late moment in that set affected Zverev’s movement. Sinner kept his level steady and took the set.
The fourth set followed a similar pattern. Sinner broke serve again and closed out the match 6-4. He served out the final game to seal the victory.
Sinner reached the final after beating Novak Djokovic in the semifinals. Zverev advanced by defeating Arthur Fery in his semifinal match.
This result marks Sinner as the first Italian man to win consecutive Wimbledon titles. It also makes him the tenth player in the Open Era to successfully defend the Wimbledon men’s singles crown. Zverev has now lost his last ten meetings against Sinner.
The final showed Sinner’s ability to recover from an early deficit through steady play and strong serving. Zverev competed hard and created chances but could not find another break after the opening set.
