Alexandra Eala of the Philippines defeated Alycia Parks of the United States 6-1, 4-6, 6-2 in a 3 set match at the National Bank Open on Wednesday. The WTA 1000 event is being held at Sobeys Stadium in Toronto.

Eala, ranked No. 20 in the world, advanced to the third round. Parks is ranked No. 71. The match lasted about one hour and 32 minutes.

Eala took the first set 6-1 with strong baseline play and consistent returns. Parks responded in the second set, winning 6-4. She recorded 10 aces during the match and used her powerful serve to level the contest.

In the third set, Eala broke Parks serve multiple times and closed out the match 6-2. Parks committed more unforced errors in the deciding set. Eala converted key break points and maintained better consistency on her groundstrokes.

This result gave Alexandra Eala revenge for a loss to Parks at the Australian Open earlier in 2026, when Parks won in three sets after dropping the opening set. Eala entered the National Bank Open after winning her first WTA Tour title at the Mubadala DC Open in Washington just days earlier. The victory extended her winning streak to six matches.

Filipino fans in the stands supported Eala throughout the match. She later thanked them in her post match comments for the large presence of Philippine flags and chants.

Eala, 21, continues her run at the hard court event. Parks finished with a higher ace count but struggled to sustain pressure after the second set. The National Bank Open is one of the premier tournaments on the WTA calendar leading into the later stages of the season.

Alexandra Eala’s next match will come in the round of 32 as she builds on her recent form.
