The Toronto Maple Leafs added defenseman Darren Raddysh from the Tampa Bay Lightning on Friday through a sign and trade deal. The Leafs sent a fifth round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft to Tampa Bay in exchange for the rights to Raddysh.
Raddysh, a 30 year old right shot defenseman born in Toronto, signed an eight year contract with an average annual value above $8 million. He had a strong 2025-26 season with the Lightning, setting career highs with 22 goals and 70 points in 73 games while averaging more than 22 minutes of ice time per game.
The move brings a local player back to the organization and adds depth to the blue line. Raddysh previously played for the Lightning after going undrafted. The deal was first reported by insiders including Elliotte Friedman and later confirmed by multiple sources.
Raddysh joins the Maple Leafs ahead of the 2026-27 season.
