The Washington Capitals have acquired forward Alex Tuch from the Buffalo Sabres in a sign and trade deal completed on June 24. Tuch signed an eight year contract worth $84 million with the Capitals.
Tuch will wear jersey number 89 with his new team. He previously wore that number throughout his time with the Sabres. The number had been used before in Washington by defenseman Tyler Sloan.
The move brings Tuch, a 30 year old right wing known for his size and two way play, to the Capitals roster. Buffalo received forward David Kampf and a 2027 third round draft pick in return.
Tuch had 66 points in his final season with the Sabres. The Capitals now add him as they look to strengthen their forward group for the upcoming NHL season.
