Former UFC fighter Anthony Smith was arrested Monday in Sarpy County, Nebraska. He faces three felony charges.
The charges are domestic violence resulting in serious bodily injury, terroristic threats, and first degree false imprisonment. Officials also listed one charge as attempted first degree domestic assault.
Smith, 38, was booked into the Sarpy County Correctional Center. He remains in custody. A bond hearing is scheduled for Wednesday morning at 8 a.m. at the Sarpy County Correctional Center.
Smith grew up in the Omaha area and lives in Nebraska. He competed in the UFC for about a decade. He challenged for the light heavyweight title in 2019 against Jon Jones. He also recorded wins over fighters including Alexander Gustafsson, Mauricio Rua, and Rashad Evans.
Smith announced his retirement after a loss in 2025. He later returned for a bout in another promotion. In recent years he has worked as a UFC analyst.
Details about the incident that led to the arrest have not been released by authorities. The victim has not been publicly identified.
