Former UFC champion Conor McGregor shared a statement on social media Friday about truth, society, and his Christian faith.
The Irish mixed martial artist posted the following message: “If the world is against the truth, then I am against the world. Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord! I’d rather be cancelled by society than rejected by Christ.”
McGregor, known as The Notorious, has made several posts in recent days referencing his faith. Earlier on Friday he also wrote “JOHN 14:6” and “A rich man without God is a poor man with money.”
The 38 year old is currently recovering from surgery. He tore his ACL during his return fight against Max Holloway at UFC 329 in July. The bout ended after 69 seconds due to the injury. McGregor has shared updates on his rehabilitation and has stated plans to fulfill the final fight on his UFC contract after recovery.
McGregor has spoken publicly about his Christian faith for more than a year. He has described a personal spiritual journey and has referenced biblical passages in previous posts and interviews. His recent messages continue that pattern while he focuses on recovery and other business interests, including his Mac Energy brand.
McGregor remains one of the most followed athletes in combat sports.
