The U.S. Soccer Federation and Mauricio Pochettino have agreed to a new contract. The deal keeps the Argentine coach as head of the U.S. Men’s National Team through the 2030 World Cup.
U.S. Soccer announced the agreement on Monday. Pochettino’s previous contract ended after the 2026 World Cup. The new deal gives him a full four-year cycle with the team.
Pochettino led the USMNT during the 2026 tournament, which was co hosted by the United States. The team reached the Round of 16. The side recorded a set of results that included consecutive World Cup wins for the first time in decades.
Under the new arrangement, Pochettino and his coaching staff will continue working with the senior national team. The staff will also take on expanded roles across technical areas of U.S. Soccer.
The extension provides continuity for the program. Players and staff can maintain the systems and approaches developed during the previous cycle. The team will prepare for upcoming international windows and future competitions leading to 2030.
Pochettino’s record with the USMNT includes a mix of wins, draws, and losses across more than 30 matches. The focus now shifts to player development and building depth for the next World Cup cycle.
The 2030 World Cup will take place outside the United States. The USMNT will enter the next qualification process with the same head coach who guided the team through the home tournament.
Financial details of the new contract were not released. The agreement was supported in part by private contributions, similar to previous arrangements.
Pochettino will begin the next phase of work when the USMNT returns for fall matches. The federation described the move as the start of a new chapter focused on continued growth of the senior team.
