Angel Reese Double-Double Leads Atlanta Dream Past Sparks

Angel Reese returned from injury and posted 23 points and 13 rebounds to help the Atlanta Dream defeat the Los Angeles Sparks 101-92 on Monday night at Gateway Center Arena in College Park, Georgia.

Reese finished with 23 points, 13 rebounds, three steals and two assists in 33 minutes. She made 7 of 11 field goals, including one three pointer, and converted all eight free throws. The line gave her a double-double, her 16th of the season. It also marked the second time this year she has reached at least 20 points and 10 rebounds in a single game.

The Dream built a strong position in the second quarter with a 34 point output and held a lead for most of the contest. Reese contributed key plays in the fourth quarter, including a go ahead three pointer after the Sparks had closed the gap. Her steals and rebounding helped limit second-chance opportunities for Los Angeles.

Allisha Gray supported the effort with 20 points, three three pointers, two assists and two steals. The Dream scored in each quarter and finished with 101 points while holding the Sparks to 92.

The Sparks scored 27 points in the second and third quarters but managed only 17 in the fourth. Atlanta improved its record to 14-10 with the win. Reese enters the game averaging 15.0 points and 11.7 rebounds per game this season. Her rebounding and defensive activity have remained consistent factors in the team’s results.

The performance adds to Reese’s ongoing contributions as a starting forward for the Dream. The team continues its schedule with the next matchup set for later this week.
