San Antonio got here the hard way, beating Oklahoma City in seven games in the Western Conference Finals. Victor Wembanyama led the way in Game 7, finishing with 22 points, 7 rebounds, and a block in a 111–103 road win. Julian Champagnie came off the bench to hit 6-of-10 from three for 20 points. Stephon Castle added 16 points and 6 assists, though he also had 6 turnovers. SGA dropped 35 for OKC in a losing effort.
New York swept Cleveland 4–0 in the East Finals after knocking out Philadelphia in four games. The Knicks enter as slight underdogs, with San Antonio holding a 63.3% win probability for Game 1.
Wembanyama against New York's frontcourt is the matchup to watch. Game 1 is Thursday in San Antonio.
