The Orlando Magic have waived forward Jonathan Isaac, making him an unrestricted free agent.
Isaac, the sixth overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, spent his entire career with the Magic. Chronic knee injuries limited his playing time in recent seasons. He appeared in 52 games last year and averaged 2.6 points and 2.5 rebounds in about 10 minutes per game.
The move gives the Magic additional cap flexibility. Isaac had three years and about $44 million left on his contract, with $8 million guaranteed for next season. The team can now stretch that amount over several years if they choose.
Jonathan Isaac was known for his defensive versatility and length when healthy. His departure ends a nine year run with the organization.
