The New York Knicks defeated the San Antonio Spurs 105-95 on Wednesday night to take a 1-0 lead in the 2026 NBA Finals.
After falling behind by 14 points in the third quarter, New York used a late 11-0 run to complete the comeback and secure the road win. Point guard Jalen Brunson led all scorers with 30 points, including 13 in the fourth quarter.
Following the game, Brunson credited the team's focus during their early struggles. "It's always a next-play mentality," Brunson said. "I like how resilient we were. Our togetherness was really the biggest difference."
Karl-Anthony Towns provided strong support for New York, adding 18 points and 12 rebounds. Josh Hart heavily influenced the game defensively and on the glass, recording 15 rebounds, six assists, and four steals to go with his three points.
For the Spurs, Victor Wembanyama recorded 26 points and 12 rebounds in his Finals debut. Guard Stephon Castle added 17 points. San Antonio held a 55-48 lead at halftime but struggled with late turnovers and cold shooting down the stretch.
The Knicks and Spurs will meet again for Game 2 on Friday night in San Antonio.
