The Charlotte Hornets are sending guard LaMelo Ball and forward Josh Green to the Minnesota Timberwolves. In return, Charlotte receives forward Naz Reid along with draft compensation.
The deal includes a 2033 unprotected first round pick, three first round pick swaps for 2028, 2029 and 2030, and three second round picks in 2029, 2032 and 2033. The trade was first reported by ESPN’s Shams Charania.
Ball has been the Hornets franchise player and a multiple time All Star. Green adds wing depth. Reid provides frontcourt scoring and spacing for Minnesota. The Timberwolves gain a playmaker to pair with Anthony Edwards, while the Hornets acquire a veteran big and future assets.
The move reshapes both teams ahead of the off season. Charlotte focuses on rebuilding with picks and a new frontcourt piece. Minnesota adds talent to its core around Edwards.
