Knicks guard Josh Hart called his changing New York-themed braids a tradition he started as a way to show appreciation for the city that has embraced him.
“It’s been a tradition... my way to show love to the city that’s really embraced me,” Hart said in a video posted by the NBA on Sunday.

Hart has worn different braid designs with New York symbols including Yankees logos and “I Love NY” patterns during the 2026 NBA Finals. The look has become part of his playoff routine since he joined the Knicks in 2024. He once flew a stylist in from Houston to create the custom braids for a home game.
The 31 year old has played a key role for New York this postseason. The Knicks lead the San Antonio Spurs 2-0 in the Finals, with Game 3 set for Monday night at Madison Square Garden.
