Angel Reese of the Atlanta Dream became the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 1,000 career rebounds. She hit the mark in her 79th game during a 113-96 win over the Indiana Fever on Saturday night at State Farm Arena.
The rebound came with 4:29 left in the third quarter. Reese grabbed an offensive board after a missed shot by teammate Allisha Gray and put it back in for two points. That play gave her the 1,000th rebound of her career. She finished the game with 18 points and eight rebounds.
Reese broke the record previously held by Tina Charles, who reached 1,000 rebounds in 89 games. Reese had already set the pace for 900 rebounds earlier this season, getting there in 71 games. She also reached 1,000 career points on June 2 against the Connecticut Sun. With both milestones now complete, Angel Reese became the quickest player to 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in the same 79 games.
