A Miami based rapper has taken legal action against a producer linked to one of Kendrick Lamar’s well known songs from more than a decade ago. Milan Brewer, who performs under the name 1000Milan, filed a federal lawsuit on or around August 13, 2026, in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.

The complaint names Axel Morgan, known professionally as AXLFOLIE, as the defendant. Morgan received writing credit on the track “m.A.A.d city,” which appears on Kendrick Lamar’s 2012 album good kid, m.A.A.d city. Brewer claims that material from his own April 2012 recording titled “Ridin Rollercoaster” was used in the finished version of “m.A.A.d city.”

According to court documents, Brewer alleges that Morgan and producer Ricci Riera incorporated vocals and lyrics from his earlier song without providing him joint authorship credit or related royalties. Sample tracking services had previously noted similarities between the two recordings. Brewer seeks a court declaration recognizing him as a joint author of the work, the same level of writing credit given to Morgan, and a full accounting of any royalties generated by the track. He has requested a jury trial.

Kendrick Lamar and featured artist MC Eiht are not named as defendants in the case. Current publishing credits for “m.A.A.d city” list Kendrick Lamar, Axel Morgan, Ricci Riera, and Mark Spears, also known as Sounwave. Brewer’s name does not appear among them.

The lawsuit states that Morgan did not clearly reject the ownership claim until an April 2026 phone conversation involving an attorney for Riera. Follow-up communications sought details on existing royalty splits for the song. The track remains part of the album good kid, m.A.A.d city, which has maintained a long presence on music charts.

No public response from Morgan or further court developments have been reported as of this writing. The case continues in federal court in Los Angeles.
