Jessica Pegula beat world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka 6-4, 6-7(4), 6-0 in the semifinal of the Vanda Pharmaceuticals Berlin Tennis Open on Saturday.
Pegula took the first set with steady play and broke Sabalenka at key moments. Sabalenka fought back in the second set, saving break points and forcing a tiebreak that she won 7-4. Pegula then dominated the third set, winning it 6-0 with strong returning and few errors.
The match lasted about two hours and 16 minutes. Pegula won more break points overall and showed better consistency on grass. Sabalenka hit more winners but struggled with errors late in the match.
This is Pegula’s 23rd career final and her third of the 2026 season. It is also her third final on grass. She previously won the Berlin title in 2024. The American now awaits the winner of Alexandra Eala and Linda Noskova in Sunday’s final.
Pegula holds a 4-9 head to head record against Sabalenka but has won four of their last matches. The victory marks another strong result for Pegula on grass ahead of Wimbledon.
