Karolina Muchova won the Bad Homburg Open title on Saturday when Naomi Osaka retired injured early in the final. The score stood at 6-1, 1-0 when Osaka stopped play.
Muchova took control from the start in the first set. She broke Osaka’s serve several times and closed it out 6-1. Osaka received a medical timeout in that set for a right foot issue. In the second set, Muchova held serve to lead 1-0 before Osaka retired.
The match lasted less than an hour of play time. Muchova hit well and limited her errors on the grass court. Osaka had reached her first grass court final of the year but could not continue.
This marks Muchova’s first WTA title on grass. It is also her third career title and second of 2026. The win moves her back into the WTA top 10 ahead of Wimbledon. Osaka, a four time Grand Slam champion, had shown strong form to reach the final but exits with the injury concern.
