Karolina Muchova beat Elena Gabriela Ruse 6-4, 6-4 in the semifinals of the Bad Homburg Open on Friday.
The No. 4 seed Muchova took control early and held off a late push from Ruse. The match faced a long delay due to extreme heat after the first set. Muchova broke serve at key moments to close out both sets in straight sets.
Ruse, a qualifier ranked No. 105, had won three straight matches against top players coming into the semifinal. She stayed competitive but could not find enough breaks against Muchova’s steady play. Muchova finished with strong serving and few unforced errors in the 1 hour 40 minute match.
The win moves Muchova into the final against Naomi Osaka. It marks her first grass court final since 2019 and her third final of the 2026 season. Ruse’s run ends after a strong week on grass.
