Madison Keys defeated Tatjana Maria 7-5, 6-4 in the final of the Lexus Eastbourne Open on Saturday.
Keys broke serve at key moments in both sets to take control. She held her own serve under pressure and avoided major lapses against Maria’s varied game.
The American dropped no sets during the entire tournament. This marks her third Eastbourne title, following wins in 2014 and 2023. It is also her 11th WTA title overall and her first since winning the Australian Open.
Maria reached the final after strong performances earlier in the week, including a semifinal where her opponent retired. In the championship match, however, Keys proved steadier from the baseline and on serve.
The straight sets victory gives Keys positive momentum heading into Wimbledon next week. Maria showed she can still compete at a high level on grass at this stage of her career.
