The HSBC Championships got underway Tuesday at the Queen’s Club with first round matches in the combined ATP and WTA 500 event.
Emma Raducanu faced Anna Blinkova in the opening match on the Andy Murray Arena. Other early singles included Alex Eala against Zhang Shuai and several additional women’s first round contests.
Serena Williams returned to professional tennis for the first time since 2022. The 44 year old teamed with Canada’s Victoria Mboko in doubles against Erin Routliffe and Nicole Melichar Martinez.
The grass court tournament serves as one of the final major tune ups before Wimbledon. Play continues through the week with both men’s and women’s draws
