Taylor Fritz defeated Martin Landaluce in a three set match on Thursday to advance to the quarterfinals of the BOSS Open.
The American No. 9 seed came back to beat the young Spaniard 6-7(4), 7-5, 7-6(3). The win marked Fritz’s first victory since March and his 350th career win on tour. He had been dealing with a knee injury that limited his play on clay.

Fritz, the defending champion at this grass-court event, now faces Italy’s Mattia Bellucci in the quarterfinals. The two met on Friday, with Bellucci taking the opening set.
Fritz is using the Stuttgart tournament to build form ahead of Wimbledon.
