Francisco Cerundolo Reaches HSBC Championships Finals

Francisco Cerundolo advanced to the final of the HSBC Championships at Queen’s Club on Saturday.

The seventh seeded Argentine defeated Brandon Nakashima in the semifinals, coming back from a set and break down to win 6-7(5), 6-3, 6-4. The match lasted more than two hours on the grass courts.

Earlier in the tournament, Cerundolo beat British wild card Arthur Fery in the quarterfinals. That win ended Fery’s strong run at the event.

Cerundolo, who works with coach Nicolas Massu, has shown steady improvement on grass this week. He becomes only the second Argentine to reach the final four at Queen’s in the Open Era. The last one was David Nalbandian more than a decade ago.

He will play for the title on Sunday against the winner of the other semifinal between Tommy Paul and Ugo Humbert. This marks Cerundolo’s second career final on grass and his second final overall in 2026.
