Emma Raducanu has pulled out of the 2026 Wimbledon Championships because of a stress fracture in her right leg. The British No. 1 and 2021 U.S. Open champion made the decision on Sunday, hours before her scheduled first round match.
Raducanu had been dealing with a lower leg issue since reaching the final at Queen’s Club earlier this month. She tried to manage the niggle through treatment and practice but a final scan confirmed it had developed into a stress fracture. Doctors advised her to stop pushing through the pain.
In a statement posted on social media, Raducanu said she had done everything possible to be ready. She noted that playing at Wimbledon in front of the home crowd means a lot to her and called the situation difficult to process. Her opening match against Antonia Ruzic on No. 1 Court will not take place.
This marks another injury setback for the 23 year old. She previously withdrew from Wimbledon in 2023 after wrist and ankle surgeries. Emma Raducanu had shown strong form on grass at Queen’s before the latest problem forced her out of the home Grand Slam.
