Daria Kasatkina Eliminated by Sabalenka at French Open
Daria Kasatkina lost to world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in the third round of the French Open on Saturday.
Sabalenka took the first set 6-0 and went on to win the match in straight sets. Kasatkina, the 29-year-old Australian-born Russian ranked No. 53, had reached the round of 32 with straight-set wins in her first two matches.Kasatkina entered the tournament with solid recent clay-court results. She won a WTA 125 title in La Bisbal del Emporda and reached the quarterfinals in Strasbourg. She also has a strong history at Roland Garros, including a semifinal run in 2022.
This was her 11th appearance at the French Open. She has now lost all six of her career matches against Sabalenka. The loss ends her run in Paris this year. Sabalenka advances to the fourth round as she continues her bid for a first French Open title.
