Two American players will meet in the quarterfinals of the HSBC Championships at Queen's Club in London.
Amanda Anisimova, the No. 2 seed, advanced on Wednesday with a straight-sets win over Laura Siegemund of Germany. Anisimova took the match 6-1, 6-3 in the round of 16 on the grass courts.
Iva Jovic, the No. 6 seed, also moved on in the round of 16. The 18-year-old American defeated Alexandra Eala of the Philippines 6-2, 6-2.
The two Americans have never faced each other before on the WTA Tour. Their quarterfinal match is set for Friday in this WTA 500 event, which runs from June 8 to 14 and serves as one of the final tune ups before Wimbledon.
Anisimova, a former Wimbledon finalist, has experience at Queen's Club. Jovic has shown steady progress this season and earned her spot in the draw as a seeded player.
The winner will advance in the grass court tournament at the historic London venue. The HSBC Championships returned as a combined men's and women's event after a long gap.
