Justin Gaethje defeated Ilia Topuria by TKO after the fourth round to win the undisputed UFC lightweight championship at UFC Freedom 250 on the South Lawn of the White House on Sunday night.
Topuria, who entered undefeated, was stopped on the stool by his corner. Gaethje became the first fighter to hold the full lightweight title in years after a back-and-forth fight that saw Topuria hurt him early before Gaethje took over.
In the co main event, Ciryl Gane stopped Alex Pereira by TKO in the second round to claim the interim heavyweight title. Sean O’Malley knocked out Aiemann Zahabi in the second round. Josh Hokit beat Derrick Lewis by TKO in the second round. Mauricio Ruffy defeated Michael Chandler by TKO in the first round. Bo Nickal stopped Kyle Daukaus in the first round, and Diego Lopes knocked out Steve Garcia in the second round.
All seven main card fights ended inside the distance. The event marked the first UFC card held on White House grounds and drew attention for its setting tied to national celebrations. Game 5 of the series is next for the new champion.
