Portugal and DR Congo played to a 1-1 draw in their 2026 FIFA World Cup Group K match on Wednesday.
Joao Neves scored early for Portugal. Yoane Wissa equalized for DR Congo late in the game. Cristiano Ronaldo started for Portugal but did not score. He has now gone 10 straight major tournament games without a goal for his country.

Ronaldo missed several chances during the match. Portugal coach Roberto Martínez chose not to substitute him and later defended the decision. Bruno Fernandes showed frustration at one missed opportunity by Ronaldo.
The result gave DR Congo its first World Cup point in 52 years. Portugal will look to bounce back in the group stage.
Cristiano Ronaldo posted on social media "It wasn't the start we wanted, but this is far from over. Head up and focus on the next game." on the Portugal match against DR Congo.
