Lionel Messi has arrived in the United States to link up with the Argentina national team. The captain landed in Kansas City on Monday and joined the squad at their training camp. The full group is now together in the U.S. as they prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Argentina, the defending champions from 2022, are using the time in Kansas City to get ready for the tournament. The World Cup will be held across the United States, Canada and Mexico this summer. Messi traveled with his Inter Miami teammate Rodrigo De Paul.
Team officials said Messi is dealing with a minor issue. He is not expected to play in Argentina’s upcoming friendly against Honduras. But reports say he should be available for the team’s World Cup opener against Algeria.
The squad has been working through some other small injury concerns in recent days. Still, most players are with the group and training is underway. Argentina will use these weeks in the U.S. to fine-tune before the tournament begins.
