Scotland midfielder Scott McTominay has recovered from a stomach bug and is expected to play in the team’s first match of the 2026 World Cup against Haiti.
McTominay, who plays for Napoli in Italy, missed training sessions earlier this week but returned to full sessions and looks sharp, according to team reports. Coach Steve Clarke has said the player is fit and ready.

The 29 year old has become a central figure for Scotland. He helped Napoli win the Serie A title last season and scored regularly from midfield. In qualifiers, he was one of the team’s top scorers.
Scotland return to the World Cup for the first time since 1998. They are in Group C with Haiti, Morocco and Brazil. The opener is in Boston.McTominay’s energy and leadership in the middle of the park will be key as the team looks to build momentum early in the tournament.
