FC Barcelona posted birthday wishes Monday to former midfielder Javier Mascherano, calling him by his longtime nickname “Jefecito.”
The club shared a graphic with the message “Happy birthday, ‘𝗝𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗼’!” along with the club’s blue and red colors. Mascherano, who turns 42 today, played for Barcelona from 2010 to 2018 and made 334 appearances.
During his time at the club he won five La Liga titles, two UEFA Champions League trophies, two Copa del Rey titles, and several other honors. Fans remember him for his leadership, toughness, and versatility in defense and midfield.
