Argentina beat Jordan 3-1 on Saturday night in their final 2026 FIFA World Cup group match at AT&T Stadium. The win gave Argentina a perfect 3-0-0 record in Group J and first place in the group.

Giovani Lo Celso opened the scoring in the 19th minute with a free kick from the edge of the box. Jordan pulled one back in the 55th minute when Mousa Al Tamari finished a cross from captain Ehsan Haddad.

Lionel Messi entered as a substitute shortly after Jordan’s goal. In the 80th minute, he scored from a free kick he earned near the box, curling the ball into the net. The goal was Messi’s sixth of the tournament and extended his all time FIFA World Cup scoring record to 19 goals. It also made him the first player to score in seven straight World Cup matches.

Argentina controlled much of the game despite some rotation in the lineup. Jordan, in their first World Cup appearance, scored in all three group games. The result sends Argentina into the knockout stage while ending Jordan’s run.
