The Boston Red Sox defeated the New York Yankees 5-4 in 10 innings on Sunday night at Fenway Park. The win completed a four game sweep for the Red Sox.
Sonny Gray delivered a strong start for Boston. He kept the Yankees hitless into the late innings and struck out several batters. Caleb Durbin drove in two runs with a single in the fourth inning to give the Red Sox an early lead.
The Yankees tied the game in the ninth with help from Red Sox errors, including throws by right fielder Wilyer Abreu. They added two more runs in the top of the 10th to take a brief lead.
Boston responded in the bottom of the 10th. Anthony Seigler and others set up the rally, and Jarren Duran delivered the walk off single to score the winning run.The Red Sox finished with more hits in the low scoring contest.
The Yankees managed just a few hits overall. This series win moves Boston closer in the standings while the Yankees drop another game in the AL East race.
