The San Francisco Giants defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 10-1 on Monday night at Oracle Park. Landen Roupp pitched eight innings and allowed just one run, while Heliot Ramos drove in five runs with two home runs and a triple.
Roupp earned his first win since April 26. He gave up three hits, struck out five batters, and walked two over his career high eight innings. The right hander kept the Blue Jays scoreless after an early error in the first inning.
Heliot Ramos led the Giants offense. He hit a three run home run in the sixth inning off Tommy Nance and a two run homer in the eighth off Adam Nacko. One of his home runs traveled 434 feet. Ramos also tripled earlier and scored on an error to start the scoring. His five RBIs marked a career high.
Kazuma Okamoto provided the Blue Jays only run with a solo home run in the sixth inning. The blast traveled 412 feet and ended Toronto’s 29 inning scoreless streak. Okamoto finished with one hit in four at-bats.
Kevin Gausman started for the Blue Jays but struggled. He allowed seven runs, four earned, over five and one third innings. He walked five batters and struck out eight before being removed. The Blue Jays managed only three hits in the game and scored their single run on Okamoto’s homer.
The Giants added runs in several ways. Victor Bericoto hit a two run double. The team also scored on a double play and a double steal in the fifth inning, with Bericoto crossing the plate. Rafael Devers walked and scored on a groundout.
The game lasted two hours and nine minutes with an attendance of 32,740. Roupp’s outing helped the Giants secure a comfortable win after building an early lead. Ramos power hitting provided the bulk of the offense against Toronto’s pitching staff.
The Blue Jays have faced offensive challenges in recent games. They scored just three runs across a stretch of contests before this matchup. The Giants took advantage of opportunities and limited Toronto to minimal production.
This result gives the Giants momentum in their current homestand. Roupp’s performance ended a long winless stretch for him personally. Ramos multi hit, multi homer game strengthened the middle of the lineup. The two teams continue their series on Tuesday night.
