North Carolina beat West Virginia 12-7 on Wednesday night in a College World Series elimination game at Charles Schwab Field.
The Tar Heels built a big early lead and held off a late push from the Mountaineers. North Carolina recorded its first trip to the national championship series since 2007.

UNC improved to 3-0 in Omaha and will play for the title starting Saturday. West Virginia ended its season after a strong run to the semifinals.
