The Seattle Mariners beat the New York Mets 8–3 Tuesday night at T-Mobile Park, taking two of three in the home series.
Logan Gilbert earned the win, striking out 8 over 5.1 innings while allowing 3 runs. The Mariners scored in five of nine innings, doing the bulk of their damage in the second, fifth, and sixth frames.
Dominic Canzone went 3-for-4 with 2 runs scored. Jhonny Pereda hit a home run with 3 RBIs. Julio Rodríguez, Patrick Wisdom, and Colt Emerson all contributed with extra-base hits and run production.
The Mets were sloppy in the field with 2 errors, and starter Jonah Tong lasted just 3.1 innings, giving up 5 runs. Carson Benge was the lone bright spot for New York, hitting two home runs with 3 RBIs.
The Mariners host the Mets again Wednesday before Seattle hits the road Friday to face Detroit.
