Kyle Harrison turned in his best outing of the season Tuesday night, striking out a career-high 12 batters as the Milwaukee Brewers beat the San Francisco Giants. The left-hander went 5 2/3 innings, allowing one run on four hits and two walks in the Brewers’ victory.
It was a revenge game for the 24-year-old. Harrison came up through the Giants’ system before being traded away, and he made his former club pay. He struck out Rafael Devers three times and looked sharp from the first pitch.
Harrison has been rolling lately. He is 5-0 with a 0.79 ERA over his last six starts and has lowered his season ERA to 1.57. Brewers fans and players have started talking about him as an All-Star candidate after the strong stretch.
The Giants struggled to make solid contact all night. Harrison mixed his fastball and breaking pitches well and kept hitters off balance the entire time he was on the mound. The Brewers improved their record and kept pace in the National League Central.
