Kolby Branch Caps College Career With Home Run in Final At-Bat

Georgia senior shortstop Kolby Branch hit a solo home run in his final collegiate at bat during the College World Series against Oklahoma on Wednesday.

The blast came in the ninth inning of Oklahoma’s 11-4 win. Branch, who played shortstop for the Bulldogs, connected for a drive to left center field.

His younger brother, Kyle Branch, an infielder for the Sooners, was positioned at second base. As Kolby rounded the bases, the brothers shared a high five. Family members watched from the stands.

Branch had a strong season at Georgia and was recently named the ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove winner at shortstop for Division I. He is the fourth player from the program to earn the honor.

The moment marked the end of his college career as Georgia’s season concluded in the tournament.
